An inclusive, diverse and reconciling congregation
Welcome to First and Summerfield United Methodist Church
Welcome to the web ministry of First & Summerfield United Methodist Church, located in downtown New Haven, CT.
We hope that as you visit our website, you will get a sense of what a warm, welcoming congregation we are. We invite all God’s people to our worship and into the life of the church.
If you’re looking for a place to call your spiritual home, come worship with us on Sundays at 10am. Sunday School and professional child care are offered during the service.
February is Black History Month! In celebration, our Bishop, Martin McLee, will worship at First and Summerfield on February 9, 2014 and preach the sermon. All are welcome to attend the service and join us afterwards for our annual Heritage Potluck Luncheon.
Our congregation seeks to be in ministry with all God’s people, regardless of gender, race, age, class, ethnicity, culture, country of origin, ability and disability, and sexual orientation. Through prayer, Bible study, open dialogue, and fellowship opportunities, working together as a community of faith, we seek to encourage and challenge one another to deeper spiritual growth and stronger faith in the power of Jesus Christ to transform the world. We invite you to be a part of this joyful, life-changing struggle, and find the support and strength you need to live the life that God has called you to live.
Abraham's Tent, hosting 12 specially-selected men from Columbus House, will take place at our church from February 17 to 24, 2014.
Thank you for visiting our website. We hope to see you one Sunday soon.
